President Dharam Gokhool pledges support as Trans Africa Tourism & Unity Campaign lands in Port Louis
ACCRA, GHANA – 7 July 2026 — Ras Mubarak, Founder and Lead Campaigner of the Trans Africa Tourism & Unity Campaign, has secured the Republic of Mauritius’s full support and endorsement for a visa-free Africa by 2030, following high-level talks with President Dharam Gokhool at State House.
The meeting marks the second phase of a continental push for open borders, free movement, and greater trade across Africa, and follows Mubarak’s arrival on the island to advance the campaign’s mission.
“Mauritius has given its full support and endorsement to a visa-free Africa by 2030,” Mubarak said. “As one of Africa’s most prosperous and safest nations, with a per capita income of nearly $12,000, Mauritius is proof of what’s possible. A true paradise in the Indian Ocean, and now a key ally in opening up the continent.”
Mubarak described the meeting with President Gokhool as an honour, and said the two sides agreed on the shared goals of opening Africa, strengthening ties, and facilitating greater mobility and trade across the continent.
“A visa-free Africa means real jobs for Africa’s 532 million young people, and new revenue for our governments,” Mubarak added.
Mubarak praised Mauritius’s landscapes, cultural heritage, and hospitality, and said the nation continues to impress and inspire.
Last year, Mubarak led a team on an exclusively road journey across 31 African states, meeting heads of government and stakeholders to advance the case for a borderless Africa. He is also a leading champion of the Africa Prosperity Network’s (APN) Make Africa Borderless Now! (MABN) movement, which is campaigning for visa-free travel across the continent.
He extended thanks to the campaign’s partners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, Stanbic Bank Ghana, and Ticket World Africa Travel & Tours, for their steadfast support throughout the Mauritius leg of the campaign.
